Duty of care

Diamonds Coaching accepts its duty of care for all attending our netball sessions and will take reasonable measures to ensure that we provide activities in environment that is enjoyable and as safe as practically possible.

Prior to each session, our coaches have a responsibility to:

  • Ensure a Risk assessment for the premises an activity is carried out, assess and agree mitigation procedures for any risks identified.

  • Provide information to participants about the risk mitigation procedures and emergency procedures.

  • Ensure First aid provision is available at all times and a trained First Aider is in attendance and all first aiders are aware of their nearest defibrillator and access to emergency vehicles.

  • Maintain a register of attendees with contact details, including emergency contacts , details on any medical conditions, allergies, special needs etc

During the session our coaches have a responsibility to:

  • Undertake periodic checks on the court surface and posts, stopping play to deal with any issues such as clearing water from an indoor court, or securing a loose post

  • In the event of an injury, follow first aid procedures and ensure that an accident report is completed.

  • In the event of a serious injury or dangerous occurrence, there may be a requirement to report the incident to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) under RIDDOR procedures

  • Give participants time for a proper warm up and cool down

  • In the event of an alarm, calmly follow evacuation procedures and check register of participants at the muster point

Training and Requirements

FIRST AID

Coaches will hold an England Netball approved current First Aid Qualification namely;

  • A 6hr Face to Face Emergency First Aid at Work qualification delivered by one of the following Voluntary Aid Societies: The British Red Cross or St John’s Ambulance; or

  • A 6hr Face to Face First Aid at Work (FAW) or Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course that is OFQUAL regulated; or

  • A 6hr Face to Face First Aid at Work (FAW) or Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course that is registered with The First Aid Industry Body (FAIB).

SAFE GUARDING

  • Coaches will have received Safeguarding and Protecting Children Training - UK Coaching (3 hours) and will renew this every 3 years.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • England Netball Qualifications or equivalent
