Parent Pack
Dear Parent / Guardian
Thank you for booking our Netball Day Camp, we are really excited at hosting your budding young netballers and have lots of fun activities planned! In order to give you the best possible experience, we have prepared this pack to provide you all the information you need before, during and after the camp, so please take the time to read it through prior to camp day.
Our camp is run by England Netball Qualified coaches, with many years’ experience of coaching junior netball and over 50 years combined experience of playing netball. Our lead coaches are both First aid and Safe Guard trained to ensure the welfare of each individual participant is our priority throughout the day.
BEFORE THE CAMP
What we need to know from you!
Along with this information booklet you will have been sent a Child Medical Information, Collection and Photography Authorisation form via Microsoft forms (please see below for more information).
Could you please ensure that you submit at least 48hrs before the camp at the latest.
Making sure your child is prepared.
There are a few things that you need to prepare before turning up to the summer camp to ensure your child can participate in the camp safely and have a great time with us.
Clothing
During the Camp, there will be lots of physical activity taking place so please make sure participants come with appropriate clothing and footwear for physical activity. Participants should not wear any items that pose potential risk of injury to themselves or other participants. For example, no jewellery should be worn. This includes earrings, bracelets, friendship/festival bands.
Please also ensure your child has suitable footwear for playing netball. Netball requires rapid acceleration, sudden changes of direction and a lot of jumping! The camp is held outdoors so please bring appropriate clothing for rain and sunshine to cope with the Great British weather!
Other Safety information
As well as ensuring your child is not wearing any jewellery during the camp there are a few other safety considerations. Please make sure that your child’s fingernails are cut short, as long nails could be dangerous for both your child and the other children.
If your child has long hair please ensure they arrive with it tied up securely so it will not obscure their vision whilst playing.
On the Child Medical Information, Collection and Photography Authorisation form you will be asked to provide any medical information the Coaching staff should be aware of. If the information you provided has changed in any way please make sure you highlight this during registration on the 5th August.
Please state on the Microsoft Form any medical condition or allergies your child has, or any relevant background information that the coaching staff need to be aware of while your child is attending the camp. If your child requires medication at the camp please make sure that the staff at the camp are aware that they have medication with them (clearly marked with your child’s name). If you require the staff to support the administration of any medication it must be prescribed e.g. inhaler or antibiotics and you must provide written and verbal consent and instructions for administration at the start of the camp but state that you fully understand that staff may not be qualified to do so and that you (the parent/guardian) accept full responsibility
From time to time we take photographs and video at our camps that may be used for marketing and promotional purposes. If you are happy for your child to feature in photography and video or alternatively if you would rather your child was not included in any photographs please indicate this using the Child Collection and Photography Authorisation From which must submitted prior to camp.
Dietary Advice for Breakfast and Packed Lunch
During the time your child is at the summer Camp, they will be taking part in lots of physical activity. All children should arrive at the camp having had a suitable breakfast to fuel them for the days activities. Each child must also be sent with an appropriate packed lunch and we recommend providing snacks for throughout the day as well. Severe nut allergies are fairly common and to avoid risk to other participants we ask parents and guardians to avoid this food group in packed lunches and snacks.
Hydration
It is important that your child stays hydrated whilst at the camp; therefore please ensure you send them with sufficient supplies of fluids. We recommend that all water bottles are clearly labelled to ensure easy identification.
DURING THE CAMP
Joining the Camp
With this information booklet you will have also been sent directions to the venue and the contact details. If you have any issues getting to the camp, please contact us, but don’t worry if you are running late or need to leave early, this is the summer holidays after all.
Registration
On arrival make your way to the registration desk to sign in. You will need to make sure you have your completed the Child Medical Information, Collection and Photography Authorisation Form. On this form you need to complete the requested details for any individuals who you wish to be able to collect your child. Along with this information you need to provide a secret password to authorise your child’s collection and ensure that all individuals on the list know the password.
Valuables
Please do not allow your child to bring expensive valuables such as i-pads to the camp. Mobile phones are allowed as long as they are stored away safely during activities, but please note that they are brought along at the owners own risk and we will not be able to take responsibility for these or any other valuables.
Illness/Injury
If a child becomes ill and can no longer participate in the camp, you will be contacted straight away and asked to collect them from the camp.
If your child is ill before arriving at the camp on any particular day please contact us so we are aware that they will be absent.
AFTER THE CAMP
Participant Collection
We would ask all parents to arrive 5 minutes before the end of the camp to collect their child. If you are going to be a bit late, please just give us a call so that we are prepared for this.
If someone other than the parent who dropped the child off comes to collect the child they must be one of the individuals named on the child’s collection authorisation form and must be able to state the child’s specific password.
Lost Property
To help us identify any lost property we recommend that you label any property your child brings with them to the camp. Any lost property during camp should be queried with the Lead Organiser. All enquiries regarding lost property after the camp has finished should be made to the camp lead.
